St. Scholastica Academy offers young women the opportunity to grow and excel in athletics. As a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA), SSA students compete, lead, and exhibit fair play in the Catholic tradition.
Every SSA student has the opportunity to try out for participation in the athletic program. Levels of participation are: VARSITY, JUNIOR VARSITY, and possibly JUNIOR HIGH. Student level of participation in the athletic program is determined by the head coach using the following as a guide: skill level, court/field awareness, potential ability, attitude, and leadership.
St. Scholastica Academy’s athletic program is varied, allowing students to participate in any number of sports throughout the school year. These sports involve a wide variety of skills and interests.
Sports are supported as an essential part of an active, balanced school life. Over 64% of SSA students are involved in athletics. Team sports require much time and commitment but are well worth the enjoyment and sense of accomplishment that comes from participation. Students may participate in only one sport per season.

Academic Requirements for Athletic Eligibility
Applied to all sports and cheerleading squads.
NOTE: To be eligible for high school teams (not 8th grade teams), you must reside or attend school in St. Scholastica’s attendance zone, which is the same district as Covington High School.
- Overall 2.0 grade point average for the preceding marking period, excluding interim grades.
- One "F” and a 2.0 grade point average results in automatic probation. The athlete is allowed to participate in practice and games but must raise the "F” by the next marking period, or she will be dismissed from the team.
- Two "F’s” or more is an automatic dismissal from the team.
